Abstract

Many view researcher Donald Campbell (1916-1996) as the expert source for quasi- experimental research designs. He may be less known for his increasingly open-minded approach to small n or single subject designs, or his later focus on real world research through what he termed the experimenting society. In this paper presentation, I will assess the evidence provided in Campbell’s writing that helps explain both the stable and transformed elements of his approach to research in the social world.
