Proposal Description
Abstract
The world has been divided into more new multi-polar actors for a while after the Second World War. Basically, the Second World War transformed the political and geographical map of the world. The world community and people had witnessed some positive and negative consequences due to this international conflict. The whole world was divided into two blocks by ideological differences in the name of the Cold War (1944–1991). However, the purpose of this study is to highlight the historical, causal, and consequential factors of the Second World War. This study followed a qualitative methodology with an analysis of secondary materials through content analysis. However, the researcher highlighted the theoretical background of international relations, especially liberalism and realists’ proponents and their arguments on war and world order. This article reveals that power politics and ideological differences have resumed among major allied forces after the war, as well as a paradigm shift in the balance of power and dominance of realism in world politics. Hence, the world order and power politics have transferred Europe to America and other parts of the world. On the other hand, this study has found that the present war and skirmishes have some legacy and retrospective factors from the Second World War as a result of the persistence of the culture of war. Still, the present military, interstate, and intrastate conflicts carry the legacy of the Second World War. However, the war was crucial in bringing about independence in different parts of the world. On the other hand, decolonization, the emergence of new financial and western world orders, the supremacy of capitalism and communism, arms races, nuclear proliferation, environmental challenges, and exploration of information and communication technology (ICT) are key impacts of World War II.
