About the Artist

Born in Sarasota, FL, Samuel "Sammy" John grew up with a passion for reading and expressing himself through written words and a deep curiosity of the world, which eventually translated into a love of medicine. Sammy attended Emory University, where he served as a senior sportswriter for the Emory Wheel, having published over 20 articles. A passionate soccer fan, Sammy covered Atlanta United and varsity soccer. Along the way, Sammy discovered a fascination of neuroscience: an intricate blend of science, ethics, and humanities which combined to form the study of the human thought process and behavior. In 2020, Sammy completed his undergraduate thesis on the opioid epidemic and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and a minor in Ethics. In 2022, Sammy completed his master's thesis on the social determinant of Parkinson's disease and his MPH at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health within the Social, Behavioral, and Health Education Sciences, in addition to a concentration in Social Determinants of Health. Sammy will graduate medical school from Dr. Kiran C Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in 2026 and plans to pursue psychiatry.
